Hemmersbach RHINO FORCE

We are a direct action conservation organization dedicated to saving the African rhinoceros from extinction and protecting one of the most endangered species on earth.

Our armed anti-poaching rangers are tactically equipped, giving them a critical advantage over the poaching syndicates they confront daily, while our teams use innovative tactics and technologies to prevent the killing of rhinos and to expose and confront illegal activities across the bush of Southern Africa.

Through our CryoVault team, we capture and store rhino genes to preserve genetic diversity and conduct intensive research into IVF technologies, including ICSI, to enable the future artificial reproduction of rhinos.

In parallel, we work closely with local communities through an anti-poaching-through-anti-poverty strategy, supporting education, employment, and sustainable livelihoods so local people can provide for themselves without resorting to poaching.

We are a direct action initiative of the IT-services provider Hemmersbach. Our service is free of charge.

“We will do everything in our power to end the slaughter of rhinos – ensuring their survival for future generations.”

Why

Rhinos have inhabited the African continent for more than a million years and they play a huge role in their ecosystem. The illegal trade with powder made of their horns, which in some countries in Asia still is considered as medicine or just a symbol of wealth, almost caused the extinction of the African rhinos.

In 1875, still more than 1.000.000 rhinos lived in the vast grasslands of Africa. Today the population of the two species black rhino and white rhino is estimated to contain around 5.000 and 20.000 animals, respectively. The senseless killing continues. Since 2007, the number of rhinos poached in Africa has increased by almost 9.000%.

Therefore it is our calling to stop the slaughtering of the rhinos with all our power.
